We use 100% pure, extra virgin coconut oil because it contains a high amount of lauric acid. Lauric acid is a fatty acid that has a small molecular structure, which allows it to pass through the hair cuticle and penetrate into the cortex of the hair, helping to moisturize and strengthen the strands. Other oils have large molecular structures and cannot easily pass through the hair cuticle. Instead, these oils may coat the strands, causing a heavy, greasy feeling on the hair.
Our fragrance is natural and USDA Certified Organic. It is also vegan, gluten free, non-GMO, certified Kosher, and contains no allergens.
It means we do not use sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate, ammonium lauryl sulfate, or ammonium laureth sulfate.
Unfortunately, these detergents give the word sulfate a bad name. The sulfate molecule itself is not a bad thing and is not what causes irritation; these four detergents are powerful degreasers and are typically used at very high concentrations in shampoos because of the amount of bubbles they achieve. Since such high percentages are used in most shampoos, they can be extremely stripping to hair and skin which can cause dryness and irritation.
In the cosmetic world, sulfates are designated to anionic surfactants and specifically to sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate, ammonium lauryl sulfate, and ammonium laureth sulfate.
We are dedicated to a results based experience. The majority of other shampoos add glycols and table salt to thicken shampoo and they can contribute to making your hair feel overly dry and parched. In addition, glycols can be derived from petroleum which we do not use in our products.
You may also notice that our Hydrating Shampoo is thinner in warmer temperatures and thicker in cooler ones. This is normal and does not affect its cleansing abilities.
Yes. This is a natural product and we have not used stabilizers such as glycols, so the shampoo does separate. Therefore, shake the shampoo so that it is well mixed prior to each use.
Unscrew the cap and remove the protective seal before use. Both the Hydrating Shampoo and Smoothing Conditioner have a protective seal to ensure their authenticity and purity.
No.They may sound similar but they are different. They are both anionic surfactants but the sulfoacetate group in sodium lauryl sulfoacetate gives this cleanser a milder property.
Think Dirty states that sodium lauryl sulfoacetate "is completely safe for most skin types, including sensitive skin, and removes oils and bacteria without irritating the skin."
Behentrimonium methosulfate is a gentle and mild conditioning agent used in our Smoothing Conditioner to detangle and soften hair. It is not a detergent.
All of our products have a shelf life of 1 year. We recommend using our products within 6 months of receipt.
